WhatsApp has reportedly tweaked its “Last Seen” status according to users’ contact-by-contact permission. Although WhatsApp status has anyways had Last Seen available as a limited feature whereby other rival messaging apps have purportedly enhanced their privacy feature.
Prior to WhatsApp’s latest update that focused on tweaking its privacy that makes customizing the status within the app more flexible, WhatsApp only had three optional choices that toggle how users’ Last Seen panel is accessed.
Remember, the Last Seen is vividly noticeable at the top of every chat you initiate as well as existing chats — directly below the contact Avi
WhatsApp’s privacy status based on the Last Seen feature is considered to be limited because it had three optional choices for other WhatsApp users to control the privacy panel which other users view your presence the last time you connected — this includes Last Seen for “Everyone, My contact, and Nobody.”
When you select Last Seen for “Nobody,” it depicts you disabled your status visibility for everyone not to access your online status privately on WhatsApp. Disabled Last Seen on WhatsApp does not restrict other users from noticing an online user.
However, these three optional choices for the Last Seen panel are a one-size-fits-all solution specifically for customizing users’ privacy on WhatsApp, per WEBetainfo’s report. Now, WhatsApp has reportedly added another option that allows users to select the contact they want to view their Last Seen information.
WhatsApp has tweaked its Last Seen status for users to selectively omit contacts for viewing their online information. For context, the Last Seen panel under WhatsApp privacy now has an additional option, including, Last Seen for “Everyone, My contacts, My Contact Except…, and Nobody.”
In sum, WhatsApp privacy status — the Last Seen panel will be judiciously used by users who prefer their connectivity information on WhatsApp to be viewed by their preferred audience.
The new WhatsApp Last Seen status that allows “My Contacts Except…” allows users to select or deselect the preferred audience to view the information. WhatsApp tweaks are expected to be available on the beta builds platform until a certain project is completed, then it officially rolls out.
The Last Seen panel with the new option was spotted on the iOS platform by WABetainfo while it is absent for the Android OS. Although WhatsApp has reportedly intended to release this privacy feature for all operating systems in the future.
