Microsoft had on Tuesday, the 31st of August 2021 intimated the public its plans to roll out Windows 11 on the 5th of October 2021, in a free upgrade of its operating system available for hardware that works with Windows 11 pre-loaded and other eligible Window 10 personal computers.
In an announcement on its official blog, the tech company revealed that in the main time, only eligible personal computers will be able to access the software update.
According to the blog post, the new Windows 11will be available in separate stages, towing the line of its previous software updates, with recently indicated eligible devices having the leverage to access, followed by a bundle of in-market devices in the weeks following the initial release date.
Microsoft Windows Marketing Chief, Aaron Woodman in a blog post had written:
“New eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The upgrade will then roll over time to in-market devices based on intelligence models that consider hardware eligibility, reliability metrics, age of the device, and other factors that impact the upgrade experience”.
“We expect all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022. If you have a Windows 10 PC that’s eligible for the upgrade, Windows Update will let you know when it’s available,” he added.
Users may have to endure the rigors of stress as they will go through a long process to have access to the new update, with Windows seeking to prioritize specific set of devices to be able to align with PC’s capabilities and qualifications.
To know if Windows 11 is ready for your device in a bid to access the latest software update by Microsoft, you have to click on: Setting > Windows Update > Check for updates.
The Windows 11 release could be likened to one of the American company’s moves to promote its retail partners’ PC market since it released on its official blog hardware PC’s list qualified for the upgrade.
The teaser on the Microsoft blog had shown a catalogue of devices with images, specs, characteristics, and features while linking each PC’s name to its original website to promote user purchases.
There can be no denying that the new upgrade as much as it will excites new users, excites Microsoft themselves when the blog post was nothing short of arousing expectations.
“October 5 is right around the corner – and there are a few things you do to get ready for Windows 11. First, if you’re in need of a new PC now – don’t wait. You can get all the power and performance of a new Windows 10 PC and upgrade to Windows 11 for free after the rollout begins October 5,” the post stated.
A list of these devices covers Acer Swift 5, Acer Swift X, Asus Zenbook Flip 12 OLED, Asus Zenbook 14, Alienware X15, Alienware X17, Dell XPS 13, HP Spectre X3600 14, HP Ency x360 15, Lenovo Yoga 7, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Pro, Samsung Galaxy Book Pro, Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 360, Microsoft owned Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 4.
But it should be noted that not all the features would be accessible for users on the release date. Microsoft will further partner with Amazon and Itel to bring forth Android applications to Windows 11, while a preview of the apps will be accessible for Windows Insiders in the upcoming months and will be fully launched to all Windows 11 users in 2022.
Users who want to have the software installation ease can install it on any hardware with the ISO method but the PC must possess a 64-bit 1GHz processor with two or more cores, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a TPM 1.2 chip.
