Over the years, there have been high increase in the mobile market shares of a different smartphones, and lots of questions has been asked if there will be an end to it from iPhones series, Samsung series, infinity, Lenovo and the blackberry series. But yet again different upgrades year in, year out with different designs and configuration and all in different shapes, features, colours and sizes. But each time what we thought to be the end of each series seems to be just the beginning, and each time leaving us surprised, and amazed by a brand new series from these smartphones.
Statistical Review
According to Statista, the overall number of mobile phone users reached 4.43 billion in 2015. This number is expected to grow to 5.61 billion in 2016 and in 2017 it tripled to 9.77 billion. ICT estimates that the number of “mobile cellular subscriptions” is even higher reaching 15 billion in 2017.
The number of people with a “smartphone subscription” reached 2.6 billion in 2015, according to Ericsson Mobility Report. This figure is expected to grow to 6.1 billion by 2020. The highest smartphone penetration in 2017 was in South Korea at 88%, followed by Australia (77%), Israel (74%), USA (72%) and Nigeria (71%) based on surveys conducted by Pew Research Center.
Also the top 5 smartphone vendors based on IDC’s shipment statistics for Q4 2017 were Apple (21.4% market share), Samsung (18.7% market share), Huawei (8.1% market share), Lenovo (5.1% market share) and Xiaomi (4.6% market share). All other phone vendors cover 42.1% of the mobile phone market.

In these statistics carried out , the world has gone global and digital and the rate of smartphone users is been doubled every single day and iPhone, Samsung , Huawei, Lenovo, has proven to be among the first top 5 smartphone anyone can consider using.
In Nigeria, despite how the economy is be it in recession or not some Nigerians still find a way to be among the first to own the latest upgrade of these smartphones once it touch down the market just be on top of their games with staying connected with the best and the latest.
These smartphones companies aren’t tired of storming and increasing the mobile market shares every now and them. From Apple latest soon to be released iPhone 8, to Samsung new latest s8 which is a better version of the other series and down to the infinity s2 pro, of course there is a larger base these smartphones users waiting to upgrade than ever before no matter the price.
The question now is could there be an end to the smartphones series or we are in for another bombshell surprise after all this?? All we have to do is keep our fingers crossed, eyes and ears wide opens and our hearts hoping for nothing but the best.
