The end of this month will see an “agentic” update for Zoom’s AI Companion, which will enable it to recognize and carry out activities on users’ behalf. Users will be able to access the functionality through a new Tasks page in Workplace, where they can record video clips, arrange follow-up meetings using Zoom’s AI, and produce papers from sessions.
On Monday, Zoom released a number of new AI (artificial intelligence) capabilities for its AI Companion. With new skills, agent integration, and models, the company’s AI-powered assistant is now gaining agentic capabilities. According to the business, the AI Companion will soon be able to manage multi-step operations and carry out tasks on the user’s behalf by utilizing memory-based and reasoning-based skills. The company’s platforms, which include Zoom Meetings, Team Chat, Zoom Phone, Contact Centre, and Zoom Business solutions, will soon get these additional functionalities.
The business described a number of new AI features that would be accessible on all of its platforms in the upcoming months in a press statement. Zoom Tasks with AI Companion is one such function that can identify, finish, and manage tasks within its Workplace platform. For example, it can identify action items in emails, chats, and meeting summaries, and then carry out pertinent actions like creating papers or setting up follow-up meetings. By the end of March, this agentic functionality should be available.
A new voice recorder for the Zoom Workplace mobile app, which will record, transcribe, and summarize in-person meetings when it opens this month, is one of the further enhancements that Zoom is planning. In May, Zoom will also launch live notes, which will provide summaries in real time during Zoom sessions and meetings. Users of Zoom Workplace will not be charged extra for the AI Companion and these new capabilities.
In an effort to keep participants focused, Zoom also introduced meeting agendas with AI Companion. AI-generated live notes are provided during meetings, and meeting hosts have the ability to establish agenda timers for each portion. At the conclusion of the meeting, the assistant will present further action items. The anticipated debut date is May.
In order to assist customers catch up, remain on course, and concentrate on agenda-related issues during a phone call, Zoom Phone will also have this live notes capability. Additionally, the platform is receiving support for the Microsoft Teams app and a voicemail summarization tool. The Zoom Workplace mobile app will get a new voice recorder in late March that will use AI Companion to capture action items, summarize, and transcribe in-person talks.
The AI Companion for Workspace Reservation is an additional intriguing function. Targeting professionals who operate in a hybrid environment, the tool may help them plan work-from-office tasks including letting them know when they should be in the office, suggesting days to visit based on meetings, and utilizing the assistant to reserve a desk or Zoom room. May is when something is anticipated to arrive.
Additionally, the business is incorporating new AI capabilities into Zoom products. Better material may now be produced via Zoom Docs, which can also generate papers, search internal databases and external sources for information, and construct writing plans based on text prompts. June is when this is anticipated to be published.
The capability to automatically generate data tables from meeting summaries is another improvement being made to AI Companion. To make it easier for users to scan the data rapidly, the tool will identify the columns. It is anticipated that this functionality will be available in July.
Additionally, Zoom unveiled Zoom Drive, a dedicated location for meeting and productivity resources like Zoom Docs that will facilitate asset access and discovery throughout Zoom Workplace. In May, this will come.
The Zoom Contact Centre will soon include agentic features as well. The platform will soon include a new agent called Zoom Virtual Agent, which has natural language processing capabilities and can answer complicated questions and carry out activities for users. Both text and voice input will be supported by the agent.
In addition, the platform is receiving a number of additional agents for quality control and an agent router that can analyze clients’ intent in real time and route them to the best agent.
Lastly, Zoom is launching a bespoke AI Companion add-on that will provide users more control over the assistant for those who prefer customized AI tools. Users will get access to the AI Studio, which allows them to customize the assistant to meet the demands of the company. This allows them to integrate internal data sources, incorporate third-party apps, and add business-specific jargon.
Custom Zoom Clips avatars will also be included with the Zoom AI Companion, allowing users to scale the creation of video clips by delegating the task to the agent. It may use a script to create clips. The personalized AI Companion add-on costs $12 each month and will go on sale in April.
Users with subscription services in their Zoom accounts will be able to use the end-user-focused AI Companion across Zoom platforms for free.
