…Google services are gradually becoming autonomous.
Google’s YouTube has changed its display set-up which makes it easier for users to change their usernames and display pictures on their channel page. Google typically administers all for one type of service, whereby a piece of user information appears in all Google account tied to a particular user.
The current tweak added on Google’s video blogging enables content creators to update their profile singularly — changing the name of your channel page and picture can be done within YouTube, without interfering with other Google services. Google services are gradually becoming autonomous.
Prior to now, Google services are cantered on a singular setup mode for all Google account linked to a user — this means that; the changes you make on your Gmail profile also reflect on other Google services, including YouTube, Drive, Google+, etc.
Critics and tech experts’ perspective on Google’s sense of branding is not as professional as it appears — an autonomous mode of brand services is expected to be flexible for content creators who intend to perform diverse operations with Google services.
For contrast, a YouTube creator might want to send electronic mails via its original name instead of the name attached to their YouTube channel that reflects in all accounts.
According to YouTube, it worth noting that creators with a verified account are likely to lose their check badges if changes are made to their profile — the verified badge can also be restored by users’ choice. Creators are expected to apply for another verification once the profile name is changed with the check badge gone.
This “profile name change” feature is accessible to YouTube’s entire user base, including both individual and official accounts. Meanwhile, YouTube noted that this feature was pushed for development by its user’s request to enable autonomous operations utilizing Google services.
Users’ experience on Google’s YouTube desktop version is quite simplified to access this feature — changing channel name and display picture by clicking YouTube Studio, while you can also Customize your profile navigating through the “Basic Information and Branding tabs.” Nonetheless, mobile users can simply click the display picture to access your channel page for further profile edit.
