According to xAI, Grok’s memories are “transparent,” meaning users may examine and remove whatever information the AI recalls about them.
In a similar vein, ChatGPT’s memory function was recently significantly improved to allow users to see their whole chat history.
Grok’s new memory function isn’t available to users in the EU or the UK, but it is now available in beta on Grok.com and the Grok iOS and Android applications. Individual “memories” can be erased by hitting the symbol underneath the memory from the Grok chat window on the web (and soon, Android). It can also be disabled from the Data Controls page in the settings menu.
Using X, “Memories are transparent,” Grok said. Also “You can see exactly what Grok knows and choose what to forget.”
Users will now receive a customized answer whenever they request guidance or recommendations.
According to xAI, the memory function will soon be included in the Grok experience on X.
Importantly, after opening the settings menu, users may also disable it from the Data Controls page.
By choosing the symbol beneath the memory from the Grok chat interface on the web, you may delete individual “memories.”
Additionally, xAI stated that it is now working to provide the memory capability to the Grok experience on X.
