Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is just around the corner and is scheduled to happen between June 6th and June 10th, 2022. Just like the past few years, the annual Apple event will return to be all-virtual, free for all developers. WWDC22 will allow developers to connect with designers and engineers through labs and digital lounges. Although at inception, the event primarily targeted developers, in recent years, Apple has set the annual WWDC as an opportunity to showcase new hardware and services. But the developer conference remains a software-focused event, with eyes on iOS, watchOS, iPadOS, and macOS for this year. Find out what more to expect at this year’s WWDC.

Apple is known to release an update to its iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS annually, this year wouldn’t be any different.  One topping the WWDC 2022 list will be the introduction of a new version of iOS, which most likely would be called iOS 16. According to a report by Bloomberg, the iOS 16 will showcase “significant” improvements to notifications, alongside health improvements. Rumors going around the state that Apple will be adding a new car crash detection feature as well as a satellite-based emergency feature.

Moving forward would also be a new version of iPadOS for iPad users. The new version is said will get more multitasking features and could even get a “pro” mode. For now, all we can say for macOS 13 is that it remains a mystery, expect more health and fitness-focused features in the watchOS 9. There are also expectations that tvOS will be overhauled this year, though there are no significant details available as of now. Rumors say that the rOS or realityOS will be the operating system for Apple’s upcoming mixed reality headset that has been in the works since 2015. Recently, reports say that a trademark application was spotted for RealityOS, the supposed operating system for the rumored virtual and augmented reality headset. The report says the name was filed by an unknown company with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) under the “peripherals, software, and wearable computer hardware categories.”

Rumors going around also say there is a chance, that the Apple developer conference will launch or at least tease the much-anticipated Apple VR/AR headset. Initially, Apple planned to launch the headset as far back as 2019, but the journey to the headset has faced multiple issues. Fingers are crossed for the launch of the VR/AR headset, either at the WWDC or later in the year or in 2023.

What’s next, we don’t know yet, however maybe the launch of a new MacBook Air with an M2 chip, a new HomePod, or a Mac Pro? Rumour says Apple might launch the M2 chipset at WWDC, followed by updated Macs in September or October. The keynote at WWDC22 is expected to begin at 10 am on June 6 (around 10:30 pm IST) and will feature a teaser of all the groundbreaking innovations planned by apple. The keynote will be hosted by CEO Tim Cook, and the rest of the event will also see other senior Apple executives reveal Apple’s new platforms. The event will be live-streamed for free, most likely on Apple’s website and the official Apple YouTube channel.
