One thing WhatsApp users might have in common is “pressing the send key” and then noticed there was a typo error afterward. For as many of you that must have fallen victim to this practice come closer, there is good news for you. The centralized instant messaging platform may soon allow users to be able to fix typos and errors in sent messages. For so long Whatsapp Users have requested that WhatsApp feature that lets you add/remove from your messages. Brace up because reports reveal that this feature may soon become a reality.

According to WABetainfo, a  source dedicated to news/updates on the instant messaging platform reveals that WhatsApp is working on an edit button that will give users the ability to make edit messages even after they have been sent. For a long while now, in a case when there is a typo error, WhatsApp users have learned to use the asterisk sign to signify spelling corrections to their receivers. With the introduction of the edit button users might well have a more efficient way to correct spelling errors rather than the use of an asterisk.

In order to carry out edit to a message, this will involve a user having to exercise a long-press to the sent message and then click on the three-dot menu on the side. After the edit option is selected, a user can then proceed to make necessary changes to the original message and do a resend. For now, it is unclear if a time window for editing messages will be added, be sure that we will bring you all the details once verified.

The addition of the edit button dates as far back as 2017, while the first evidence of it showed up on the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.17.26. However, the feature never made it to end-users. WhatsApp’s rival Telegram has long allowed users to edit messages, a feature WhatsApp is still a bit skeptical about releasing to end-users.

The edit button is still active in the development stage, when it is going to roll out to users is unknown.. As with all WhatsApp experiments, the feature will likely arrive first on the beta channel. If you want to be the first to try it out, you can sign up for the beta program. WhatsApp Messages Reactions have widely rolled out to users and similarly to iMessage and Instagram. The feature allows users to add quick emoji reactions to messages.
