One familiar instant messaging service that continues to top the list amongst similar messaging services is WhatsApp. Although the platform is not feature-packed like its competition Telegram, it continues to be everyone’s favourite. With a few new improvements and features, it gathers gradually, its keep getting better. After a long while, the Meta-owned social platform is now set to roll out a new update that will greatly improve document previews.
According to WABetainfo, prior to the now, when documents are shared in PDF, JPEG, or DOC, WhatsApp is known to only show a generic preview displaying the file type and the file name. What this means is that a user would have to actually download the document first to verify its content. With the latest WhatsApp beta update, documents will now display a rich preview that gives you an idea of the content. For now, reports say, the quality of the previews is quite poor. This can be indicative of the beta nature of the feature, and we hope with time the quality will be optimized to versions.
One can only hope that Meta fixes all issues associated with media sharing, especially the quality of media images that drop drastically as soon as you sent them on the platform. Better still, the company needs to improve the regular image sharing system, adding a proper option that helps users maintain the actual quality of a media file sent and received.
