WhatsApp in a bid to transform the way users text on its messenger platform is reportedly working on an array of new features.
WhatsApp, according to reports is planning to introduce reactions to messages, akin to the ones Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook have come to be known with.
WABetaInfo, a twitter platform that tracks the latest features of instant messaging platforms, while showcasing the new feature shared a screenshot that revealed users will have the option to choose for the array of different emojis just like its sister platform, Facebook. The feature which will be available to both iOS and Android phone users is currently being tested and there is hence a possibility that the final outlook when released will have more emoji options.
Another feature which is also under development will be available for iOS users, leaving Android users out of the equation, at least for the immediate roll-out is the voice message transcription feature, WABetaInfo reports. There is a great chance Android users will get to enjoy this same feature later on.
The ‘Voice Message’’ option will align the Zuckerberg owned app with Apple’s famed goal on improving its speech recognition technology without exposing the identity of the user. Another thing to note form this feature is that the voice message transcription is optional for users and they will be asked to grant their permission before the feature is utilized.
Immediately the permission is granted, there won’t be need for the users to debate and analyse what the messenger is trying to say but they can even move to a specific timestamp by clicking on a new ‘transcript section’.
Upon the successful transcription of the voice message, the data will be automatically saved inn WhatsApp database to save the stress of it being transcribed again of the user at a time stops and later decide to go back to it.
Although there is no news yet on when the Facebook owned chat platform will officially roll-out the feature for its users, the excitement of the new features is enough to make the wait worth it.
