WhatsApp Introduces New Privacy Features: Users Can Now Leave Groups Silently, You Can Prevent Screenshots Of Your Messages And Many More.

Meta Inc. owned chat platform, WhatsApp is rolling out new changes to compete favourably with other messaging apps.

Telegram, IMO and other rival messaging have had the opportunity of allowing users on their platform perform functions like having leaving public groups without the embarrassment of letting other members get aware.

Telegram for example has a function that a user can have a private chat with someone and if the person at the other hand screenshots it, it will indicate that to the user.

It appears WhatsApp has now taken the bait as the CEO and founder of Facebook, now Meta Inc, Mark Zuckerberg has announced new privacy features for arguably one of the most popular messaging platform un the world.

The new update will allow group members leave groups they are no more interested in without other group members having to be notified (a feature already available on Telegram).

Users can now control who can see them online in the new update while they can prevent unsolicited sharing of their conversations by the third party with the screenshot option.

Zuckerberg had while announcing the update on social media wrote:

“New privacy features coming to WhatsApp: exit group chats without notifying everyone, control who can see when you’re online, and prevent screenshots on view once messages. We’ll keep building new ways to protect your messages and keep them as private and secure as face-to-face conversations.”

WhatsApp had in the past few months availed it’s billions of users new updates to it’s messaging service, prominent among them is the increment of the group participants from the earlier 257 members to accommodate more people.

It also introduced the reaction option to messages in groups and private chats.

The update is seen as Meta’s move to not only allow users the leverage to have a better chatting experience, but to feel safe with their privacy while doing so.

Meta also hopes to step up it’s platforms in preparation for the full adoption of the metaverse concept.
