WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is apparently developing a new feature that will offer AI-generated conversation starters with Meta AI. The Artificial intelligence (AI)-generated subject matter to interact with Meta AI may soon be available on WhatsApp for Android, according to a recent report. It is anticipated that this improvement would result in more varied and interesting chatbot conversations. The upcoming redesign of the Meta AI interface in the app, which was previously rumoured to be in development, may include a feature that suggests topics for users to chat about with the AI chatbot, such as humour, educational topics, personalized conversational styles that users can gain knowledge about, and various conversation styles for the chatbot to follow.
Also according to screenshots the tracker posted, these recommended subjects will be prominently displayed inside the conversation area of the updated Meta AI interface. A selection of themes that users may choose from to start a conversation will appear at the top, followed by the Meta AI logo.
WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo reports that the messaging app is developing an AI-powered proposed topics feature for Meta AI. The new function was spotted in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.10.9 update, but beta testers will probably not be able to test it out just yet because it is still in development phase.
The Meta AI user interface (chat tab) displays a number of suggested subjects dispersed over a number of categories, according to snapshots that the feature tracker posted. A list of subjects follows the Meta AI logo at the top. Notably, the screenshot displays this functionality in the chatbot’s purportedly updated UI, which the business has not yet made public. The subjects in the screenshot are “Learn,” “Talk like a…,” and “Humor.”
It is anticipated that the upgrade would have two-way audio communication with Meta AI, another rumored feature. When a user chooses a topic, the new Meta AI user interface opens with a two-way voice chat interface (also rumored earlier), which can be helpful, particularly for the “Talk like a…” genre while educational talks may be facilitated in the “Learn” area. and function as a quick preset for the function. This would add an interactive element to the experience by enabling users to start a voice chat with the AI after choosing a topic. Additionally, users will always have the choice to return to text chat. The feature tracker also stated that users are able to have a conversation in text with the AI on these available topics by terminating the voice chat.
Additionally, these subjects are added by the AI based on real-life trends and other criteria, according to WABetaInfo and the feature tracker. Meta AI will regularly update these suggested subjects in light of global trends and other relevant data. Notably, Meta AI is unable to collect information from previous interactions, and the suggested subjects are primarily generalistic. According to reports, WhatsApp is considering expanding the number of categories. It’s yet unclear when customers will be able to use the function.
Crucially, it is not anticipated that the AI would gather or examine individuals’ prior communication histories. Instead of being specific to the conversation habits of particular users, the suggested subjects are meant to be broad.
To further extend the service, the instant messaging company is apparently looking at adding more topic categories. Nevertheless, no formal release date has been specified. This new functionality may mark a more significant change in the way people engage with chatbots across messaging services as Meta continues to improve its AI offerings across platforms.
