WhatsApp Beta Introduces AI-Generated Group Icons and Meta AI Widget

Recent beta upgrade versions of WhatsApp’s Meta AI Android messaging app with integration have been testing two new features: AI-generated group iconography and an AI-powered widget for quicker chatbot access. Users may now more easily use the Meta AI chatbot without opening the app thanks to a new widget launched by the Meta-owned chat service. In the meanwhile, users may utilize Meta AI to create and configure group images using prompts, and certain beta testers have access to a new AI-generated group icon feature. It is anticipated that all WhatsApp users on iOS and Android will soon have access to these functionalities. Despite some controversy, Meta’s ongoing efforts to incorporate AI into its apps are reflected in these revisions.

In the most recent WhatsApp beta, Meta unveiled a new AI widget that lets users communicate with the chatbot straight from their home screen without ever having to launch the app. This feature makes it easier and faster to get AI help by providing voice mode activation, text-based AI questions, and picture uploads for AI analysis.

Some beta testers will notice a new option that enables users to create photographs using Meta AI after switching to WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.10 (via feature tracker WABetaInfo). Users will see a fifth option called Create AI Image after touching on the pencil symbol when viewing an existing group icon.

The functionality is accessible on the most recent Android beta version of WhatsApp, according to the Gadgets360 team. Users will receive a Meta AI prompt screen after tapping on Create AI Image. Beta testers can select a new group symbol by swiping through the alternatives after entering a question and waiting for the chatbot to provide several pictures.

AI-generated group icons are now available in WhatsApp’s most recent beta. Users may design their own icons by answering questions, and Meta AI will produce a variety of possibilities. This feature, which is available on Android beta version 2.25.6.10, allows group conversations to have a more personalized feel without requiring manual picture uploads.

A new widget that can be placed on the home screen was also included in the most recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.14 upgrade, which was made available to testers a few days ago. In essence, this is a shortcut that lets users easily access the Meta AI chatbot without opening WhatsApp first.

Gadgets 360 was only able to add a thinner version of the widget, which displays the Ask Meta AI button after installing WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.6.14, however WABetaInfo’s screenshot displays a much larger widget with three selectable buttons — Ask Meta AI, Camera, and Voice.

By touching the pencil symbol on the group’s existing picture and choosing the new “Create AI Image” option, users may activate the capability. Group members may easily customize their group icons using AI thanks to this tool’s customization possibilities.

Users may either write in a question or utilize the Camera and Voice buttons for photo-based or audio-based suggestions when they tap the Ask Meta AI button, which opens a chat window with the Meta AI chatbot in WhatsApp. Until the new widget is made available to all users, users on the stable channel will have to launch WhatsApp and choose the Meta AI floating action button (FAB) in order to access the Meta AI chatbot.

The new AI capabilities that Meta has added to WhatsApp are a component of a larger plan to incorporate AI throughout its services. Some users welcome these upgrades, but others are dubious, particularly considering WhatsApp’s emphasis on encryption and privacy. The extension begs the issue of whether Meta will eventually use AI-generated symbols for chat backdrops or profile images.

The widget may be resized and placed to the home screen. Additionally, the Meta AI widget will allow a few shortcuts; for initiating a conversation with Meta AI, sending the chatbot a photo and for engaging the chatbot in a vocal conversation.

Considering how rapidly WhatsApp delivers new features, both of these capabilities, which are now in the testing stage, should be available shortly. Stay tuned for updates, as we will notify you as soon as we get them.
