Apple event 2022: iPhone 14 launch imminent. What you need to know

Today is a very big day for Apple. There are only a few hours left until Apple’s iPhone 14 debut event, which is anticipated to feature a number of new gadgets in addition to the new iPhone. On the list of new releases are a redesigned set of AirPods Pro headphones and three new Apple Watch models.

Similar to how it did with WWDC in June, Apple will stream its small live event from its facility at Apple Park. Here are several possible announcements for Apple’s upcoming hardware-focused event, which is scheduled for today September 7, 2022, at 1 PM ET (6 PM WAT).

Brand New iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max

Of course, Apple will unveil the brand-new iPhone 14, but it’s unlikely that the regular model will steal the show. The majority of the innovative and interesting features are anticipated to be included in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Three major features are expected for the 14 Pro and Pro Max: a 48-megapixel rear camera with a bigger sensor; an always-on display that can be customized; and a screen that does away with the notch in favour of smaller camera cutouts.

The device is also expected to receive an updated A16 processor chip and possibly two new colours, deep purple and blue. It’s also said to start with 256GB of storage, an increase from the 128GB floor that the previous Pro and Pro Max models had, and to accommodate a quicker 30W charger (although the phone itself probably won’t arrive with USB-C just yet). Additionally, it is said that the Pro series will have larger batteries and bezels. This impressive list of additional capabilities may justify a predicted price increase for Apple’s higher-end iPhones.

New Apple Watch Models

Three new Apple Watch models are about to be released: the Watch Series 8, the updated SE, and the tough “Pro” model made for athletes who participate in extreme sports.

The next-generation watch will have a new S8 chip, but it won’t surpass the S7 and S6 chips, according to Bloomberg reports. Apple isn’t likely to add a blood pressure monitor just yet, but it may have fertility-tracking capabilities and a temperature sensor that can tell if you’re feverish. Meanwhile, Apple’s less expensive Watch Series 3 will probably be replaced by the upcoming Apple Watch SE and will feature the  S8 chip, an improvement over the S5 chip used in the 2020 SE model. Other than that, it doesn’t appear that there will be any other significant modifications; it is anticipated to keep the same display size as the present SE.

Rumours say that the expected tough Apple Watch “Pro” will include a more extensive, “almost 2-inch display” that is “more shatter-resistant.” In addition, it might have a “strong metal” case rather than the previously suggested rubberized cover.

Next-Gen AirPods Pro

Since its first release in 2019, the AirPods Pro are yet to receive any updates. After almost three years, the AirPods Pro 2 may eventually be released at the event. The AirPods Pro have been predicted would enable lossless audio, enabling higher-quality sound. Even the expensive AirPods Max doesn’t support the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC), therefore the AirPods Pro 2 would be the first device to do so.

Also, IOS 16 and WatchOS 9 launch dates may be announced today. We first learned about iOS 16 when Apple announced it in June, and based on what we’ve seen in the public beta, we have a very decent idea of what to coming. According to reports, Apple completed work last week and will likely release a finished version of iOS 16 within a week of its iPhone 14 presentation.

iOS 16 will showcase a number of new features we can’t wait to try out, this includes the ability to edit and unsend messages as well as a customizable lock screen. Additionally, it adds repositioned notifications that now appear at the bottom of your lock screen as well as a Live Activities lock screen widget that updates you on current events like sports scores or the status of your food delivery.

For now, this is the list of expectations we can share, we save the rest of the excitement for the Apple event later today. Join us as we share updates on the new iPhone 14.
