Telegram has in a new update added exciting features for its millions of users around the world. The new update will afford users to open and maintain a Telegram account without a phone number or use of a SIM card.

Just like other chat apps like WhatsApp and Signal, Telegram will normally require users to register using their mobile number linked to a SIM card but that has changed with the new update announced.  Telegram before now has a slightly different method with phone numbers from WhatsApp, Imo Et al, it makes sure phone numbers are not visible to unknown people, unless you make it so.

This new update allows Users to now own a Telegram using a blockchain powered anonymous numbers that is readily available on the Fragment platform.

Fragment is Decentralized micro-task platform secured by blockchain technology that allows users earn cryptocurrency on their smartphones by completing simple tasks.

What users need to do now is get an anonymous number purchased through the Fragment blockchain, and then use it on the Telegram app.

Another new update is the ability of users to set up auto-delete timers to clean up individual chats after a period of time. This expands the control of Telegram users over their digital footprints into the future. Users can now set a global auto-delete timer that automatically removes messages in new chats. But existing chats will not be affected as the timer will only be applied to new chats with users, and this is regardless of who starts them and to all new groups created.

There was a previous update that allows users and group admins organize discussions into topics in a groups, merge classic internet forums with the latest in messaging technology but the new update has now made that available for groups from 100 members or more.

In the update announcement on the Telegram website, it wrote:

“Groups with topics open in a sleek two-column mode, so you can access your other chats as quickly as before. To switch to the latest topic straight from your chat list, simply tap the new button in the preview.

“Groups now have a default topic called General, which holds the group’s service messages and pre-topic message history. This topic is available for all group members so they can find older messages, but admins can rename the topic or hide it from the main list”.

Another notable update is the new Aggressive mode for the automated spam filters that allows Group admins to report any false positives right from their Recent Actions tab, a move that would help train Telegram droids to help guard groups even better in the future.
