How To Uninstall Previous Java 8 Version Using Patch Manager In 2021

Are you looking for a way to uninstall the previous Java 8 version before installing the new one? Removing them is necessary to lower the risk of your security. In addition, the latest version of Java with all the updates helps to improve both performances and fix vulnerabilities of the previous versions.

The latest Java version also comes with future updates that enhance the overall performance and functionalities of Java. So, you always have to keep the newest version installed. Running with the latest version will ensure you stay out of any risk of security. There are plenty of methods available that you can use to remove the previous Java 8 version.

However, patch manager is one of the most effective ways of uninstalling it. It helps you to remove it without any issues and in a short time as well. You will need to have the patch manager’s latest version to make the process smooth and easy.

Uninstall Process Using Patch Manager

Before uninstalling the older versions of Java, make sure you do not need them anymore. There are some websites that still require older versions to run. Also, some applications might need the older version of Java as well. However, you can report the compatibility issue to the developers or providers and ask them to update it.

As long as it is not compatible, you will need to keep working on the older versions. Removing or uninstalling the older versions will cause the website or app to be stopped and prevent it from opening. You can use the patch manager to select the packages you want to uninstall or keep using Package Boot Editor.

If you have the patch manager version of 2.1.4 or the earlier ones, make sure the target files are there to uninstall. If you do not have any kind of issues uninstalling it, then here are the steps that you can follow.

Step 1: First, you will need to open the patch manager application as an administrator. You can right-click on the application to find the option of administrator.

Step 2: You will get a navigation pane after opening it; expand the “Administration and Reporting” It will help you find the next options, such as Software Publishing.

Step 3: Under Software Publishing, you will have to select the Sun packages. After selecting it, you will find many different options. Then, in the centre, double-click on any of the upgrade packages.

Step 4: You have to click on ‘next’ twice in the wizard window of the Patch Manager.

Step 5: You will get a lot of different options in this window. Find the option “Package Boost” from the list.

Step 6: Before applying a package in the package boot editor window, select a package you want to uninstall. Patch manager will not be able to read the selections if the files are installed on your PC. On the other hand, if the package is unavailable or installed on the PC, the patch software will ignore all the selections.

You might get an error as well while using the patch manager’s earlier versions. So, you need to make sure that the patch manager is up to date. Apart from the error, the patch manager will also be unable to upgrade the latest JavaKRE will not be completed. 

Step 7: in the next step, you have to select all the programs and click enable this action. Under this option, you will get three other options to choose such as “Run program, Install MSI, Uninstall MSI.” You will get all the different packages listed on the left side but do not touch any of them. The selected files will get uninstalled from your computer.       

Step 8: Another option is available on the page that lets you save the MSI log files. If you want any additional uninstalled packages, you will need to repeat some of the previous steps.

Step 9: After you are done uninstalling them, click on “save.” All your progress and changes that you made will be saved.

Step 10: Close the complete window of the Package Boot Editor when the uninstalling process is done.

Step 11: A dialogue box will appear saying that the package is saved. Click okay to close it.

During the process of uninstalling, a window might open for no longer than several seconds. This is because it will say an active program in the computer is trying to display a message. However, it will close automatically after a few seconds.

If you are thinking about installing the latest version or new version of Java, you will need to uninstall the old versions. Keeping the old version can increase the risk and vulnerability of security. So, here are the steps that you can follow to uninstall the previous Java 8 version from your Windows using Patch manager.
