TopShip has closed its Seed round with a $2.5m deal led by the Americans such as Flexport and Y Combinator offering to promote Topship’s logistics services across the Nigerian border. TopShip International parcel logistics solution in Africa is official international completing local logistics demand.
Topship’s million dollars seed deal is a close mark to the deal the startup counterparts, IdentityPass closed at the seed fundraising last week. Recall that TopShip participated in the Y Combinator’s accelerator program alongside IdentityPass and Moni as the first set of African startups from Nigeria to be drafted for Y Combinator’s Accelerator Program in 2022.
Topship’s founder, Moses Enenwali has reported the $2.5m his logistics company completed during the closed seed round fundraising session. Reminiscing on how Topship’s bootstrapping logistics solution in Nigeria since the global pandemic eruption in 2020. Topship’s current ranking in the African logistics marketplace is influenced by Enenwali’s experience in delivering parcels internationally.
At the time Topship was bootstrapping, Enenwali focused on actualizing a seamless logistics solution. Enenwali pictured Topship’s bootstrapping phase as a goodwill campaign to support users moving parcels across international borders. Topship was a non-profit logistics startup when Enenwali signed up for Y Combinator’s Accelerator Program. “Topship’s mission is to make the shipping experience in Africa as easy and stress-free as booking an Uber ride,” Enenwali said.
The American startup accelerator investment was not disclosed after the seed fundraising. Flexport offered the most seed to Topship’s development across the local digital logistics marketplace. Topship’s seed round fundraising was seconded by Y Combinator, followed by Dropbox, Capital X Soma Capital, True Capital, Olive Tree Capital, Sterling Ventures, and Mercury.
Techbooky.africa believes the Y Combinator’s support to accelerate Topship’s parcel logistics operations to thrive in the Nigerian market, other international investors have reportedly on-board Topship’s logistics. Recall that Topship’s ranking also uplifted the startup company’s recognition in Africa.
Flexport is a perfect example of how an international investor is committed to supporting a local startup — it is worth noting the similarities between Topship and Flexport. This will accelerate Topship’s parcel logistics operations internationally.
It’s a no-brainer Topship’s logistics solution supported by Flexport is corporate compliance linked to Y Combinator’s Caucasian gene. TopShip is currently serving thousands of Nigerians — Topship responds to logistics requests to the UK, China, and the USA. Enenwali did not disclose if Europe will be enlisted per projected expansion by more investment.
