Telegram Gets Noise Suppression, Group Video Chat, And Other Tweaks

…Telegram is expected to rival WhatsApp with 500 million active users.

According to a previous hint about developing a group-enabled video call Telegram disclosed months ago, the WhatsApp-like messenger platform finally adds another feature to its messaging chat app, exclusive video calls for groups within Telegram.  The quick message app has reportedly worked on this feature since the last year April — in the wake of the 2020 pandemic.

The simplicity of this tool can be activated by a click on the video icon. For instance, while a group voice chat is ongoing, you can easily switch to video chat by clicking the camera icon — this feature is integrated with the in-built camera on your device.

It worth noting that Telegram allowed its global user-base to access this modification, which also appears to be finite. For instance, while the WhatsApp-like messenger platform made it possible for a maximum of 30 active users for a group video chat. Still,  a group voice chat is active, an unlimited number of users can join an ongoing voice chat.

Although Telegram intends to continuously tweak its video call tool, in line with the social media company’s announcement in January 2021. Telegram chief executive, Pavel Durov, noted that users can share the content of their screen with other users in the group while a video call is active.

Pavel also highlighted Telegram’s triumphs aiming to rival WhatsApp after Facebook reportedly acquired the quick message app for a huge amount of cash — In 2014, a purchase price of $16 billion was announced by WhatsApp founders, including, $4 billion cash payment and a $12 billion that remains in Facebook shares.

Telegram has gained millions of daily active users ever since Facebook parents WhatsApp — the majority of these users reportedly switched from WhatsApp after these users discovered its policy change appears to be less favorable.

Still, the number of Telegram’s user-base is yet to surpass WhatsApp’s — with over 2 billion active users, WhatsApp has gained more with group video and voice calls that have been integrated since 2018. Take a break and imagine the developmental difference of how Telegram lags in this competition for social networking supremacy.

Despite Telegram’s newly introduced group-enabled video chat with a maximum of 30 users, the messaging chat app is expected to increase accordingly with other added interesting features such as a modified noise suppression tool, and animated backgrounds. These features are available for both iOS and Android OS without exceptions.
