Through a specific Spotify connection, a new feature that WhatsApp is reportedly working on for its iOS app would make it simpler to share music in status updates. The well-known messaging app is creating this functionality for its iOS platform, which will make it easier for users to share their favorite songs straight from Spotify to WhatsApp statuses, according to feature tracker WABetaInfo. A beta tracker reports that the functionality, which allows users to share music from Spotify on their status updates through an integration, was discovered in the most recent beta version of WhatsApp for iOS. It is said to streamline the current procedure by doing away with stages like copying, pasting, and sending links.
The Spotify integration for WhatsApp status updates is being developed by Meta Platforms’ instant messaging client and will be released in a future version of the app, according to WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo. The WhatsApp Beta for iOS app version 25.8.10.72 was where it was observed. Sharing music on status updates will include a preview created by WhatsApp that shows details like the song title, artist name, and album cover, according to screenshots the feature tracker supplied.
To post songs on their statuses, WhatsApp users are now forced to copy, paste, or send URLs from music applications. The new feature, however, seeks to do away with this laborious procedure. Users will soon be able to include Spotify straight into their status updates, as demonstrated by the most recent WhatsApp Beta for iOS app version 25.8.10.72.
It is also rumored to feature a link that, when clicked, will launch the song on Spotify with a Play on Spotify option. Reports say when it launches, Spotify for iOS users will notice a new Status option in the share sheet. Also another report says that it will make WhatsApp’s music sharing feature comparable to Instagram, another service developed by Meta Platforms.
Even beta testers who have signed up through Apple’s TestFlight program may not yet have access to this new feature, according to WABetaInfo, which made this feature news, which states that it is still under development. Over the next weeks, more WhatsApp for iOS beta users are expected to receive it. According to the source, music shared in status updates would be encrypted from beginning to finish, much like conversations, so that only the intended receivers may access it.
Notably, earlier this month, it was rumored that WhatsApp for Android was developing a similar functionality. It was discovered in the Google Play Beta Program’s WhatsApp beta for Android app version 2.25.8.3.
WABetaInfo posted pictures showing that the integration will provide a preview of the uploaded music along with important information like the song title, artist name, and album cover. A “Play on Spotify” option will also be available, enabling recipients to directly access the song on Spotify.
It is anticipated that this change would bring WhatsApp’s music-sharing experience closer to Instagram, another program owned by Meta that now offers equivalent features.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s characteristic end-to-end encryption will be preserved in the new music-sharing function, guaranteeing that only the intended receivers may see the shared status. More iOS beta testers are expected to have access to the feature in the upcoming weeks, despite the fact that it is still in the development stage.
