Instant messaging app and service developed by Snap Inc. – Snapchat announces that starting February 23rd users can now change their usernames through the app update arriving. The company says that once the new feature goes live and is available globally for both iOS and Android users will now be able to leave behind the username used originally without the worries of having to create an entirely new account.
For users who will like to have their username change, first, you’ll need to tap the Bitmoji icon in the top right corner of the camera that would take you to the profile screen. Then tap the gear icon, the “Username,” and then the “Change Username” selection. According to an earlier press release by the company, users wouldn’t need to worry about any impact on their contacts, Snap code, Snap Score, or memories, as a result of changing a username.
However, the company has also warned that users are entitled to change a username only once a year. In addition, users won’t have the option be picking an already existing handle. For users who considering securing an already existing username but inactive, this change won’t help. Snap also adds that once a username has been switched, the old username is considered gone forever. Snap Inc. expects users to get creative with new username choices because consequently, this means that, once you change your username, your old username will stay off-limits to everyone forever. So dear Snaps start choosing wisely.
