Snapchat Android users have reportedly surpassed its closest counterparts, iOS users. The social media company seems to be in its beneficial phase after investing its resources to achieve a developed Snapchat premium for Android users.
Conforming to Snapchat fiscal report for the previous business year, which indicates their revenue inflow is mostly generated by Android users instead of the original iOS user-base that brought the social media to the limelight.
Meanwhile, the entirety of its user base has persistently attained developmental growth overtime. After the first quarter of 2021, the social media fiscal report revealed they have maintained a “22% yearly user-base increase” — Snapchat daily accounts for over 280 million active users.
It is quite historical how the number of the Google invented mobile operating system surpasses the iOS user base — while addressing the press, The social media company’s chief executive, Evan Spiegel acknowledged how it is for the long-term lucrative investment channelled to its rebuild Snapchat application for the Android platform that lasted for a year.
Remember, Snapchat was exclusively built for the iOS platform until Android users demanded this service which led the social media company to develop an Android version of the original iOS application. The first Snapchat for Android was launched in 2012.
After the Android version rolled out, Snapchat went on about assembling a team of developers to tweak its Android platform making it even with the initial iOS version. While Snapchat for Android was underdeveloped, its entire user base lagged in generating funds for the social media company.
Nonetheless, 2019 hit different for Snapchat — a business turnaround after the final version was released. The social media company continued to attain functional growth while the global market transition towards accessing their services.
Snapchat chief executive highlighted the significance of developing its Android application. Aside from other responsive functions, Snapchat for Android has also bolstered Snapchat’s broad investment in televised content.
In March, the social media launched “Snap Original show” in India — a project that supports Snapchat to improve its diversity towards accessing various languages and localization.
It seems conspicuous as start-up companies including Snapchat, Clubhouse, etc. would rather venture into the iOS market with a little or no regard for users and its market (such as local and international markets) — whereby Snapchat has discovered how lucrative the Android market can potentially boost its market value overtime.
