Google Voice has now create new rules that allows users dictate how to responds to incoming calls from specific contacts. In 2009, the Gogle Voice service was introduced by search giant Google. Google Voice is a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) phone service. You can use the voice over Internet protocol service to make and receive phone calls, as well as send text messages at your discretion. And yes, this includes having Google Voice automatically ignore certain contacts, forward calls from one number to another, so you can easily manage all of your communication from phone.
Even though the service has an existing call forwarding feature, the new rules presents the ability to even customize it even further — you can set up a rule that forwards calls from a single contact or a group of contacts to any of your linked numbers. With the new rules created on Google Voice your communication abilities are endless.
And if you are the type that don’t want receiving a forwarded call, you have another option to create a rule that sends certain callers straight to voicemail. This option also comes with the ability to assign contacts different voicemail greetings and screen calls from the contacts of your choice. Isn’t that just fantastic, I mean, this service isn’t that type of one size fits all type of thing, instead you present various type of cool to all your contacts.
To create a rule, click here ( But you must keep in mind that new rules can’t be created through the Google Voice mobile apps — instead you can only view them.), hit the “Settings” in the top right corner, then click “Calls” and choose “Create a rule.” After which you can then make the choice of your most preferred contacts to create a rule for, as well as choose whether you want to screen the call, send it to voicemail, set a custom voicemail greeting, or forward the call to a specific number.
