Samsung’s Tri-Fold Phone Specs Leak

As Chinese smartphone manufacturers delivered new and superior designs, Samsung which is South Korean of course,  that had dominated the foldables market for a few years, seemed to be slipping behind (at least in terms of sales). According to a recent claim, Samsung is developing a tri-folding smartphone that is similar to the Huawei Mate XT in order to advance its foldable technology. There is more information regarding the design and display of this upcoming device, even though the manufacturer did receive patents for its tri-fold device a few days ago.

Samsung is reportedly developing a dual-folding (or tri-folding) design for a forthcoming foldable smartphone, according to a claim by the Korean website ET News. Citing industry sources, the source asserts that Samsung is investigating new form factors and plans to introduce this new type of foldable tablet within the next year. Additionally, it said that by the end of this month, the device’s design will be finalised.

The piece also asserted that partners are working on building solutions for Samsung’s “double-fold smartphone,” which the company has added to its development line-up.

According to reports, the new foldable will include a double-folding screen that employs an “infolding” design, which should set it apart from the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. When unfolded, the future device’s main display is expected to measure 9–10 inches, making it around 2 inches larger than the company’s current top-end foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold Special, which was just unveiled for the South Korean market. This device will feel like a medium-sized Android tablet or iPad when it is unfolded. It will resemble a standard smartphone when folded, taking on a rectangular appearance.

The article claims that Samsung made the switch to a tri-folding gadget in an attempt to keep Apple and Huawei, its direct rivals, at bay. Additionally, it will assist Samsung in setting itself apart from the competition in the foldables market, which presently consists of single-folding devices in clamshell and book-style form factors. We examined the two Samsung foldables that were released this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 are described here.

When folded, Samsung’s tri-fold phone should have a screen that is between 9 and 10 inches in size, which is roughly 2 inches bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Instead of folding inward and outward once, the phone’s screen will fold inward twice thanks to its “infolding” design. The external display is meant to be protected and less prone to sustain harm thanks to this design.

Some piece of information regarding Samsung’s tri-fold phone and what to expect has been detailed below as follows:

  1. When folded, the phone functions as a standard phone; when unfolded, it transforms into a large-screen tablet.
  2. A new design for the phone will address issues with durability.
  3. When the phone is closed, the primary screen will be on the left side of the screen.
  4. The phone will resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in terms of its external display.

The tri-fold phone is anticipated to be released by Samsung in 2025. The rollable smartphone that was hinted at in September is not expected to be the finalized design, which is expected to be completed by the end of November. Samsung is allegedly planning to switch to a “infolding” display instead, in which the two sides of the unfolded screen fold inward.
