Samsung’s New 2022 Galaxy S Lineup To Be Created From Ocean-Bound Materials

Electronics manufacturer, Samsung has intimated the public on what to expect in its new line-up for today February 9, 2021.

The multinational manufacturing conglomerate says its 2022 Galaxy S will be partly made from eco-friendly sustainable products, with the use of ocean-bound products made from fishing nets.

The South-Korean based company also revealed its intention to implant the sustainable material in all of its products slated to be announced next week, while then incorporating it into the remainder of its devices’ lineups.

The electronic giant did not fail to note the misconception about plastic bottles and grocery bags, positing that people have had wrong concepts about them, erroneously believing that they are the major causes of ocean debris, like the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but noted that it is not the case in reality.

Marine biologists have expressed concerns over microplastics and discarded net, noting the effects they have in major catastrophic outcomes in the world’s climate.

The use of Derelict fishing gear give rise to ghost fishing: in cases where the fisher men will have to make do with the tools to keep trapping and killing, in the process destroying marine life, including endangered species.

The detrimental outcomes of the highlighted have become a source of global concern and it should be noted that Samsung is not the major big tech company to figure out this problem. American multinational technology Coy, Microsoft had in 2021 announced its ocean plastic mouse, with a shell crafted from 20 percent recovered plastic. The intervention of Microsoft, a computer software company, ranked 21st in the 2020 Fortune 500 rankings of the largest U.S. Corporations by total revenue to marine preservation came as a boost to the movement.

It is of note that customers and environmental activists had in 2019 come hard on Samsung, berating the South Korean titan over its laxity, while asking it to push for more sustainable products. The company in its response to the series of criticism then promised to increase sustainable materials for their packaging and it appears the 2022 Galaxy S will be the forerunner to the plan.

Samsung has had its fortunes skyrocket in recent times with the South-Korean giant getting to a new record with its 2021 fourth quarter (Q4) earnings, with an annual operating profit of $42.9 billion, while having a total $232.4 billion in revenue.

The electronics maker had hit a spectacular $11.5 billion in operating profit and $63.6 billion in revenues as compared to its third-quarter (Q3) revenue, with the heightened capital for the company majorly responsible for the 24 percent Year-on-Year (YoY) growth in revenue driven by the increased sales of consumer goods, like its new generation premium smartphones, televisions, and a variety of different units.
