Samsung reveals their new smartwatch and other wearables the Korean smartphone maker developed with Google. Per Samsung’s announcement, the Exynos W920 is a 5nm processor the tech companies used to actualize their first joint wearable gadget.

The Exynos W920 was supposed to feature on the Galaxy Watch 4 series which roll out next week — Samsung and Google have been trying to develop a new series of its smartwatches — a combination of Tizen and wear OS. Still, this 5nm processor is expected to efficiently improve the performance of the smartwatch likewise rival other brands.

The semiconductor that features on Samsung’s Wear OS is different from the semiconductor that powers its smartphones. Unlike the high-end Snapdragon 888 built by Qualcomm, it has four Cortex-A55 cores that bolster low-power tasks, while the Exynos W920 has two Cortex-A55 cores and a Mali-G68 GPU but it is not built by Qualcomm.

Per Samsung’s announcement, the current CPU performance is responsive to the previous GPU by 20%, due to the change of semiconductor — an improvement measured in ten-folds.

The smartwatch Samsung and Google jointly built is expected to have an always-on display powered by the Cortex-M55 that accompanied the 5nm processors. With Wear OS display always-on, the Exynos W920 chip also bolsters the smartwatch from draining its battery.

Aside from Techbooky’s experts that have long awaited the release of this commercial smartwatch that required two tech giants to combine their resources to achieve, other users have reportedly anticipated as well.

With Exynos W920 5nm processor, it is will unify the response of the smartwatch since it is built with combined Tizen and Wear OS technology, “and will be first applied to the upcoming Galaxy Watch model,” per Samsung’s announcement.

Since performance has been a significant setback with Samsung’s Tizen OS, the only solution at hand was to consort with Google Wear OS which is likely to develop certified hardware. Although both Tizen and Wear OS had performance issues as well.

Still, Samsung is expected to continue its Galaxy Watch 4 series, despite Google’s involvement to develop durable performance. Prior to this Samsung Galaxy event that introduced its foldable such as Galaxy Z Fold 3, and the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The Korean smartphone maker also released a smartwatch which depicts Samsung will roll out the outcome of combining Tizen and Wear OS on a device next week.
