Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy Z Fold 3 was launched today — this device depicts Korean technology can be stylish, sleek, flexible, and a touch of nostalgia (if you practically fold the Samsung Fold 3 like a cubicle it reminds me of the first generation of commercial gadgets). The Galaxy Z Fold 3 can also swim holding its breath up to 30 minutes.
Take a closer look to observe the similarities this device has with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3, which also has the same stylish technology as the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Korean smartphone maker tagged Galaxy Z Fold 3 at an affordable price which does not exceed a thousand dollars for a pair of Samsung’s foldable.
Per Samsung’s announcement, its least sized 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB storage configurations and 8GB of RAM cost $1,799. The Korean smartphone maker suggests its devices are worth being pricey since the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is built with high-end semiconductors and other OEMs, especially Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 that powers Fold 3.
Samsung used other high-end Korean technology to actualize its foldable device can also swim — its IPX8 water-resistant technology also makes the Fold 3 entertain robust 5G connectivity. The Fold 3 also supports the S Pen stylus which makes the Galaxy Z Fold 3 more flexible than the previous models.
Unlike the Fold 2 edition, this current foldable model has a protective film that is now 80% stronger. The Korean smartphone maker used Gorilla Glass Victus that protects the cover screen. The strength of the Fold 3 screen also bolsters the durability of the IPX8 tech that allows the foldable device to last up to 30 minutes underwater.
Samsung’s Fold 3 retains the same tele lens supported by 12-megapixel sensors that bolsters optical image stability. Meanwhile, users expected the Fold 3 primary camera to be a hole-punch selfie supported camera, but Samsung rather used an under-display camera — Galaxy Z Fold 3 features as the first Samsung device to launch an under-display camera.
Per Samsung’s announcement, there are “minimum pixels applied on top of the camera hole.” Still, the camera is vividly noticeable even if the Korean try so hard to hide the camera. For context, the camera becomes invisible when the display is active.
On the other hand, the S Pen also has a Pro model that supports Bluetooth connectivity as well as other air gestures that prevent the delicate ultra-thin glass under the supposed 80% strength imbibed in the screen protector. While the S Pen Pro has a toggle that requires an enabled switch when the stylus is used with other foldable devices made by Samsung.
It is worth noting that the S Pen is liable to engrave marks on the screen while iteratively using the custom stylus. Samsung engineering on the Fold 3 screen to withstand possible force while using the stylus Pen on the toughened screen.
The Korean smartphone maker noted the Fold 3 has improved multitasking gestures whereby the foldable concept is expected to promote multitasking. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 has enough real estate space on its screen which is expected to attract several app developers to come up with a suitable experience for multitasking enabled screen.
Just as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 launches today, the window for pre-orders is also available while the device will be available for global distribution by August 27.
