The founder of Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson has travelled to space alongside three other crew members to accompany him on his space journey. Branson is hereby recorded as the first man to leave for space on the same supersonic space vehicle he contributed his share of resources to build.
According to Virgin Galactic, they spent two decades worth of resources to fully develop this supersonic space vehicle — a winged plane with a single rocket motor. Remember, Branson announced today is scheduled for his trip to space via his custom built space plane.
Virgin space mission named the space vehicle’s mothership WhiteKnightTwo, while other Virgin Galactic employees such as Colin Bennett, Beth Moses, Sirisha Bandla boarded the SpaceShipTwo — the main space plane that is piloted by Michael Masucci and Dave Mackey.
As at 8 AM, SpaceShipTwo was already in the sky — it detached from its mothership when it was more than 50,000 feet on higher ground. While Branson’s space plane aimed for space, all the passengers on board are expected to experience a panoramic view of the Earth as the default blue sky fades into spaces’ star-speckled darkness.
A video on Branson’s Twitter popped up: “To all you kids out there — I was once a child with a dream, looking up to the stars. Now I’m an adult in a spaceship…If we can do this, just imagine what you can do,” according to his video.
It worth noting this space mission marked the fourth space travel Virgin Galactic has attempted, while this test seems more productive than the previous — it aimed close to the depth of space.
The worth of Branson’s space mission explained the party he hosted prior to SpaceShipTwo’s take-off — family, employees, friends, top-notch artists were present to support Branson’s space mission.
The Virgin Galactic founder reportedly tweeted an image that featured another billionaire, Elon Musk aka Technoking — he was seen barefoot celebrating with Branson outdoors, while Khalid had to perform an unreleased song.
Virgin Galactic aims to perfect its commercial spaceplane with this flight test that has the company’s founder and other employees on board. The commercial space travel tickets cost a minimum of $200,000 and $250,000 tops — tickets sales are currently closed but will be reopened sooner or later at a higher price.
The British space company based in the States has marked a significant impact in the global space industry. Overtime only a few private space companies have contributed to accomplished more space projects, including Jeff Bezos Blue Origin, and Technoking’s SpaceX.
Aside from SpaceX, Blue Origin and Virgin Galactic are direct counterparts in the commercial space industry — this brief ride they’re offering to space is reserved for the rich. Still, commercializing space travels depicts thousands of customers will rush into viewing the earth from higher ground.
