Phonemaker Realme has announced that products with their warranty expiring between May 1st and June 30th will get an extension to July 31st. This was revealed via tweet by the company. The company also explained via the same tweet that it was extending the warranties of these products because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and that the safety of users was considered while making the decision.
“In these difficult times, we have decided to take a step towards the safety of our users. We would like to announce warranty extension till 31st July on all #realme products whose warranty is expiring from 1st May to 30th June 2021”, the tweet read.
Realme’s warranty announcement comes less than 24 hours after phone makers Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Poco announced that they have extended the warranties on their products in India as a result of the country’s ongoing second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Realme’s service centres will remain closed as a result of the Government’s directive. The extension of the warranty is so that users still benefit from their warranty especially if it ends during the ongoing lockdown period. This way, users will be able to get their phones fixed if it develops any issue and not miss out from their warranty.
Xiaomi extended its warranty for smartphones by two months to July. Vivo extended its warranty in lockdown-imposed areas by thirty days and also announced a free pick-and-drop service for customers. Poco also extended the warranty of users ending in May by two months to July.
Phone makers are coming up with solutions to help users stay safe amidst the pandemic. Since users cannot go to service centres, some phone makers have turned to pick-and-delivery option. This way, mobile devices get picked from the owners’ doorsteps and after repair, they are delivered back to them. Phone makers have also come up with online chat supports and human support to help their customers during this period of the pandemic.
