Windows 10 is finally here and the first thing to know is that today is going to be a very busy day for the internet as over 600 million people are eligible for upgrades to the new Window 10. To manage this properly, Microsoft has therefore tried to limit the number of people who can do this at any time. They haven’t done this by attaching a number per download time window but rather you would have to register for download in the bottom right corner of the Windows system (See this article for more on this). On doing this, a reply would be sent to you with procedures and link to the download. As expected, the response time will vary from user to user. This process could take a couple of hours or days.

Several PC makers have said that they’ll make this operating system available to users as soon as possible. Companies like Dell and HP are expected to start selling new PCs with pre-installed Windows 10 operating system from this week in North America. Going by how these things have being released in the past, I expect that major African markets like Nigeria and South Africa would start receiving Windows 10 PCs anywhere from August ending to September. There you have it, if the wait time is too long, then buy a new PC. Please remember that only Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are eligible for free upgrades.

That said, if 600 million people are eligible for upgrades, Microsoft’s prediction of 1 billion Windows 10 devices by 2018 may be achievable after all as demand for the new operating system grows.
