Elon Musk’s SpaceX says it will fly two private citizens to the moon towards the end of 2018. As of this time, we don’t know who these two passengers are but we do know that they will be traveling on the newer version of the SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft which we are told was largely funded by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) which has been encouraging private investment and exploration of space. SpaceX’s original spacecraft was designed to deliver supplies and people to the International Space Station (ISS) but the newer unmanned version is expect to travel to space sometime in 2017.

If this is successful, it would mark the first time in 45 years that humans will travel to deep space and will take off from the Kennedy Space Centre.

While SpaceX may be the first to achieve this, there are several private space companies springing up with the aim to achieve this as well.

Last year, Elon Musk highlighted to the public what the journey to Mars would look like as well as possible fee that could be attached to such a mission if we were to travel there.
