In light of the Ebola outbreak which has claimed lives across West Africa and some parts of the west, several people have voiced concerns about it. With various world bodies predicting that it could get worse in the months ahead, it has become imperative for humanity to confront this deadly disease. If you recall, it has plagued a few countries in West Africa with Liberia being the worst hit. Nigeria experienced an outbreak briefly but this has since been contained and this attracted commendations locally and internationally but more needs to be donw by all governments across the world.
The US has since sent trops to Liberia to assist local authorities in containing the disease which has claimed nearly two thousand lives in the country.
Most recently, Facebook CEO and founder; Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have decided to donate $25m/4b Naira to the CDC (centre for disease control) based in Atlanta, USA. This was announced in statement on his Facebook page;

Priscilla and I are donating $25 million to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation to help fight Ebola.
The Ebola epidemic is at a critical turning point. It has infected 8,400 people so far, but it is spreading very quickly and projections suggest it could infect 1 million people or more over the next several months if not addressed.
We need to get Ebola under control in the near term so that it doesn’t spread further and become a long term global health crisis that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or polio.
We believe our grant is the quickest way to empower the CDC and the experts in this field to prevent this outcome.
Grants like this directly help the frontline responders in their heroic work. These people are on the ground setting up care centers, training local staff, identifying Ebola cases and much more.
We are hopeful this will help save lives and get this outbreak under control.

Its important to note that this isn’t the first time Mr. Zuckerberg will be donating to charity and is currently reportedly worth about $32b/N5,254,394,808,657.93.
