iOS 10 becomes a real thing on iPhones from today. And all the things we said you should expect is what’s there. I’m actually getting mine downloaded even as I write this. I have seen the previews however and it’s just cool. Even Apple calls it the biggest iOS update ever.
But it wasn’t a smooth one as many people took to Twitter to complain about hardware problems after updating to the new OS.
Apple has since fixed this and in a statement, they said “We experienced a brief issue with the software update process, affecting a small number of users during the first hour of availability,” Apple said. “The problem was quickly resolved and we apologize to those customers. Anyone who was affected should connect to iTunes to complete the update or contact AppleCare for help.”
That said, the storm is over at least for now and I can’t wait for the iOS 10 myself and if you’ve been checking your settings for updates and still can’t see it, make sure you’re using one of these models at least; iPhone SE, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPod touch 6th generation, iPad 4th generation, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Mini 4, and iPad Pro.
Expect updates from other App Store publishers as well. We hear that Nintendo has launched Super Mario Run stickers for iMessage which is getting a major upgrade as well. iMessage gets an App Store in iOS 10 and while some of them are standalone, others are an extension of an app you have on the home screen.
If you have one of the mentioned iPhone/iPad models, go to Settings>General>Software Update and you should see something there.
