Since the announcement last year that eBay and PayPal would split into two different entities, we had waited patiently for this to happen until now. VentureBeat has reported that its going to be official this Friday. PayPal will also begin trading on the stock exchange from the 20th of this month.
PayPal was acquired by eBay in 2002 and under pressure from shareholders and investors, a split was forced to happen.
There has been a number of splits in the tech world with the HP one expected to come into effect soon.
