Apple finally introduced the super-fast iPhone hosted in the Hi Speed virtual event as they announced four new models with the 5G capability as its selling point. In contrast to what Apple did a few years ago with iPhone 6, The new iPhone 12 is designed with other exciting features to lead the company and the industry to a new phase using 5G to boost its pace. In awesomeness, the 5G connectivity isn’t the only fantastic feature the iPhone 12 is designed with. It also includes the ultra-fast millimeter-wave version (mm-wave), water and dust resistant, and the MagSafe accessory.
The iPhone 12 mini ‘5.4-inch’ (the smallest, thinnest, lightest 5G phone in the world), iPhone 12 ‘6.1-inch’, iPhone 12 Pro ‘6.1-inch’ and the iPhone 12 Max ‘6.7-inch’; are the different sizes of the new 5G iPhone 12 with preorders to begin on Friday, October 16th with availability beginning October 23rd. Meanwhile, the iPhone 12 Mini & Max will be available for sale by November 13th. However, Apple made an awesome device to be sold at a lower price at $699 in the iPhone 12 Mini and the iPhone 12 Max for $1,099 (which makes iPhone 12 the cheapest 5G phone on the planet). All the iPhone 12 series will be available in Blue, Black, Green, Red, and White aluminum.
“The arrival of 5G marks the beginning of a new era for iPhone, and we’re thrilled to bring these impressive new capabilities to our customers with iPhone 12 max and iPhone 12 Mini. We’re once again pushing the boundaries to deliver incredible computational photography advancement, Super Retina XDR display, and the biggest leap in durability in iPhone history with the new Ceramic Shield front cover. “iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini deliver powerful computational photography features enabled by A14 Bionic and a new dual-camera system, bringing an unparalleled camera experience that makes it easier than ever to intuitively capture the perfect photograph or video. This advanced camera system features the Ultra Wide camera and a new Wide camera with an ƒ/1.6 aperture, the fastest yet on iPhone, providing 27 percent more light for even more amazing low-light photos and videos.
Computational photography is taken to the next level on iPhone 12 models with Night mode and faster-performing Deep Fusion now on all cameras — TrueDepth, Wide, and Ultra Wide — for improved photos in any environment. Customers will experience brighter pictures and better contrast for photos shot in low-light settings with Night mode, and more texture and less noise in Deep Fusion photos. Smart HDR 3 uses ML to intelligently adjust the white balance, contrast, texture, and saturation of a photo for remarkably natural-looking images.”
The new iPhone 12 is proof of why Apple remains dominant in the smartphone industry with innovative features, including an upgraded A14 Bionic (the same chip that featured in the new iPad Air). The iPhone 12 is introducing an HDR video recorder, which means it can capture up to 700 colours. A super Retina XDR displays with the ceramic shield front cover; it is more durable than any other smartphone and more substantial than the latest 5G phones. All the iPhone 12 series are built to resist water up to 30 minutes, and it is highly protected against everyday spills.

For Apple fan in the United States, Apple has partnered with Verizon which is one of the 5G pioneers. They devised a means to market their products. Only the international versions of the iPhone 12 have the 5G connectivity. Verizon Wireless is one of the three telecom companies with a 5G network. The Verizon CEO announced that the US would be operating on a low band 5G network, which offers the same amount of coverage at a lower speed.
Apple also included the MagSafe feature as the back of the iPhone 12 that holds the phone cover or wallet. Its charger and its magnet serve other accessory purposes; the MagSafe is handy in a snap at the back of the iPhone 12. While the charger is as effective as the iPhone 12 itself, the charger has two sides that simultaneously charge the iPhone12 and the Apple wristwatch. It is also foldable, which means it can easily manage space. The virtual event was themed Hi Speed because even the USB-C connector charges much faster.

The 5G connectivity is the main feature that stars the new iPhone 12 device. Unlike the 4G that also brought about mobile applications like Uber, the 5G iPhone 12 is built for faster download speed, video streaming, online gaming, and other tasks without buffering, making the 5G ten times faster than 4G networks. We still look forward to witnessing how 5G intends to add value to our life especially in the developing world where true 4g coverage is still out of the reach of many. Apple made sure of this to be possible programming the new iPhone to automatically switch networks between 4G and 5G when necessary to conserve the battery and regulate the device temperature. The downside is that 5G may consume more power, draining the battery life while the device overheats furiously.
One thing worthy of note is that the iPhone 12 models with 5G mmWave will be available exclusively in the United States while those to ship internationally won’t have this flavour of 5G. mmWave refers to a smaller wavelength but higher frequency bands which means more data transported per second. Their frequency band for this ranges from 24GHz to 40GHz which means the faster it gets, the lower the distance it can travel.
The new iPhones launch with iOS 14.
