Apple just released a statement on its website on the number of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models sold so far. It says it has sold a record 13 million new iPhones in the 6s category just three days after launch.
Beginning October 9, the phones will be available in more than 40 countries and over 130 countries by the end of this year. “Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are available in gold, silver, space gray and the new rose gold metallic finishes.
The 3D touch which is a feature of the new iPhones builds on the Force Touch Technology currently being used on the Apple watch is used to access a new feature on iPhone called Live Photos. The Live Photos captures a second and a half of footage before and after a photo is taken. When pressure is applied using the 3D Touch, Live Photos brings the images to life. “It’s a beautiful experience, unlike any other way of interacting with photos” according to an Apple official. This really makes all the difference. Fans of iPhone can expect Apple to announce a new version every year but before now, most of the differences between a new and a previous one would be slight with changes to picture quality, size and processing power but the 3D Touch adds a new style of sensitivity to the iPhone. Interaction and navigation can be greatly enhanced with this feature.
Since June 2007when it launched the first generation iPhone, Apple has sold over 700 million iPhones to date with 47 million phones sold at the end of the quarter ending 27th June, 2015.
