PlayStation Games To Be Accessible On Smartphones Soon

Imagine having to play your favourite PlayStation game on the Go? As in, without the hassles of having to connect to your TV or your dashboard device?

Right on your mobile device, your smartphone?

The famous Play Station Games owned by Sony Entertainment is a darling to many gamers, especially lovers of action, football and adventure games. The PS1, PS2, PS3. PS4 successes are vivid testaments to this.

According to a confidential document, Sony is set to tow the line of Microsoft and Apple to launch its PlayStation Now cloud gaming service on mobile phones, a move that would definitely elicit positive ripples among gamers.

The document averred that “The service would stream over 450 PS3 games at first, and follow up with PS4 titles.”

Apple had in the early stages of developing the ‘Apple Arcade’ hinted on the ‘PlayStation Now’ expansion, including the Xbox Game Pass. Even though Arcade did not end up being launched in 2019 as expected and doesn’t still include the streaming option, the company saw PlayStation Now as indicative of a broader shift toward gaming subscriptions.

The reason Sony aren’t streaming  games to smartphone users despite these reports may have a not yet answered question but a hybrid of PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus according to reports, is due in spring 2022, but the insinuation did not do justice to the mention of mobile access.

Many factors may have predicted that decision, part of them being that Sony may not want to test Apple policies by blocking cloud gaming apps. Another suggestion may be that it may have too familiar technical challenges such as adapting gamepad-focused titles to touchscreens or ensuring reliable streams on cellular connections.

The service had initially streamed PS2 and PS3 games to smart TVs, Blu-ray players, and the PS3 and PS Vita, but in late 2017, had to cut off all those original platforms to shift its focus on the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC instead. While it recently added 1080p streaming and a PS5 client, it’s never been offered on Android, iOS, or Mac.

A small number of PS4 games launched on PlayStation Now in July 2017, but the service is “only PS3 games right now,” suggesting Apple got tipped off about more than just the move to mobile.

The  the first PlayStation console released in Japan in December 1994, and later 1955 globally has evolved to become one of the most sought about video game in the world. The PlayStation 2 is the best-selling home console to date, having reached over 155 million units sold by the end of 2012.

With the game now coming on smartphones, there is a chance the numbers will shoot up.
