There have been rumours that the OnePlus 13 will launch in October, and on Wednesday, a company official appeared to confirm that the phone will actually release later this month. The smartphone will make its debut in China, with a worldwide release anticipated later this year. The CEO stated that the OnePlus 13 will have a “big leap” in performance in addition to announcing the launch date. According to rumours, the phone may come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 CPU.
With a hint that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would power it, OnePlus said last month that its next flagship device will come in October. A corporate official has now verified that the OnePlus 13 will be available shortly and provided further information.
This month will see the release of the OnePlus 13 smartphone, according to OnePlus China President Louis Lee’s Weibo post. Thus, ColorOS 15 will be the first operating system on the smartphone. Given that OnePlus phones come with Oppo’s Android-based veneer rather than the significantly altered Oxygen OS that was added outside of China, this is not shocking.
On Weibo, Li Jie Louis, president of OnePlus China, announced that the OnePlus 13 is imminent and would come with “the latest Snapdragon flagship chip,” which is anticipated to be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Given that the company’s flagship Android phones have consistently used the newest and best Snapdragon SoCs, this is not shocking.
Lee said that there would be a major performance boost with the next flagship smartphone. He said that the OnePlus13 has achieved a “big leap” in terms of overall fluidity and performance release with the most recent Snapdragon flagship CPU, surpassing all previous Android benchmarks.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor, which is also anticipated to be delivered this month, is probably the foundation for this enhancement. The company’s specialized neural processing unit (NPU) is anticipated to be upgraded in the new chipset, potentially providing speedier performance for processes including artificial intelligence (AI) and other applications.
Although the ColourOS 15 on the OnePlus 13 is unlikely to be available in India, Lee pointed out that the operating system would include a new Tidal Engine and Aurora Engine, which are supposed to provide quicker performance and smoother animation.
The OnePlus 13 is anticipated to include a 6.82-inch 2K 10-bit LTPO BOE X2 micro quad curved OLED display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, according to earlier sources. The current BOE X1 display seen in the OnePlus 12 is reportedly outperformed by the second generation of the BOE oriental screen.
The official also added that Colour OS 15 will be installed on the phone in China. It should come as no surprise that OnePlus phones in China utilize this OPPO skin rather than the slightly altered Oxygen OS skin.
According to a different source, the smartphone could include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor built into the display circuitry. Additionally, it could enable soft edge four-level depth and super eye protection. It is also reported to include a rear panel made of super ceramic glass.
According to the CEO, the new phone would appear to achieve new heights on Android and make a “big leap” in terms of performance and smoothness. The new CPU and the Tidal Engine and Aurora Engine technologies in Colour OS 15 were credited with these enhancements. While the latter should provide better animations, the former offers superior performance. Given that OxygenOS is built on Colour OS, we anticipate that similar features will also be included in international OnePlus 13 models.
Furthermore, OnePlus reaffirmed that the OnePlus 13 will debut later this month, presumably just in China at this time. Although a launch date has not been announced, we assume it will happen following the Snapdragon Summit, which is scheduled for October 21–23.
