Following the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia this past weekend, different leaders came out especially on Twitter to condemn the violence and those behind it and while many have criticised the US President Donald Trump for his response, many have also commended the immediate past President Barack Obama for his own response. This has now earned him the award of the most liked tweet ever on Twitter.

The three part tweet that has seen the first one with an image reach over 3 million likes makes it the most liked tweet ever on Twitter. The microblogging site announced this today officially.

Citing Nelson Mandela, President Obama said;

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion … People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love … For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

Before now, Ariana Grande held the record following her tweet on the Manchester bombings during her concert that claimed the lives of 22 people including children. Her “broken” tweet was liked by over 2.7 million likes. With Obama’s tweet being the number one with respect to likes, Ariana Grande’s tweet is the second while Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscars selfie is the third.

President on Saturday blamed “many sides” for the violence without calling out the white supremacists by name even though many prominent members of his own party have said he should have. He finally held a press conference in the White House where he finally called out the groups by name and condemning their actions. All of that changed on Tuesday when he spoke from the Trump Tower in New York by going back to his Saturday talking point. He went back to saying the violence was from both sides even though an anti-fascist protester lost her life in the process.

Even comedians who have usually made a joke out of the President’s daily actions say this is beyond normal and have taken more serious stands lately.
