Rules and regulations in the ICT space are established to ensure proper alignment and security. Every parastatal has certain rules and regulations that govern each one of them. In terms of rules and regulations, the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDRP) is a security policy that protects and secures data for Corporate organizations in Nigeria, involving both the government, private firms, and entrepreneurs.

The NDPR urges private and public companies to indulge in absolute compliance to the policies that govern security configuration and information systems in adherence to its policies, to avoid enforcement of the severe penalty attached to violating the regulations enlisted by the NDPR.

Further emphasis was made by ESET Nigeria on the aspect of data security, stating that appropriate documentation of data that is been processed by its subjects Is crucial. The NDPR guarantees 100% encrypted data protection which also involves the addition the of two-factor authentication, that protects the accessibility encrypted data. In terms of encrypted data protection, the policy only covers the organization that complies with the NDPR policy, which also includes the documented data of its subjects that must exist in the NITDA database.

Furthermore, in 2019, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), established the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDRP) policy, that requires the total observation and practice of the NDPR policy. Agencies are therefore advised to operate with transparent documentation of processed data and in order to qualify for an encrypted flow of data.

The last conference hosted by NITDA aimed to create awareness directly to each Nigerian about the need for data security and abiding in its regulations can also serve as a booster to the business owner. Having assurance on the documented data makes the operation of the organization certified and trusted, thereby boosting the conduct of safe business transactions. This policy also helps the market maintain the national competitive standard indulgence to international trade, with credible assurance the NDPR ensured end-to-end encrypted policy.

With respect to personal data security, system configuration, and information security protection by NITDA, the policy also serves as a tool for encouragement urging agencies within the axis of Nigeria, that the companies in Nigeria should patronize local data center operators. The Nigeria policy on data collection and protection is also a means of communication. Organizations are keenly advised to get solutions on Data Loss Prevention (DLP) ensuring that personal information that happens to be sensitive data is not mishandled, lost, or accessed by unauthorized users.

The two-factor Authentication, which is also multiple protection guarantee will serve as an additional backup of protection of data from unauthorized users. This tool will help data collections in securing all login information to networks and databases (in the Cloud) by generating a One-Time Password (OTP). This information is strictly available to the operation of a verified network to protect the database. The OTP received is not known to anyone but the configured user and it is usually required per login.

The implementation of the NDPR policy established by NITDA aims at providing rights that can be practiced and valued by its users. Corporate organizations are advised to heed to the policies in compliance with the NDRP policy.
