Nintendo released a trailer today of what used to be known as Project NX which was first mentioned sometime last year. The new gaming concept is called Nintendo Switch.
The concept is a hybrid system with two detachable and one hand controllers that are fixed sideways of a small screen. The controller which they called Joy-Con in a press release can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options. They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con Grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers.
In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.
Nintendo is also partnering with some big names like Konami, Sega, Activision, Capcom, Bethesda, Take-Two, EA and Warner Bros. among others who have all pledged support for Switch though publishing and game development. In the trailer you could already see footage from games like Mario and The Legend of Zelda.
There is already a buzz around the new and weirdly good looking console and we just hope it lives up to the hype or take us back to the good old Nintendo 64 days. Switch in my opinion combines the best of both worlds to bring about a whole new style in gaming.
Switch will be launched in March 2017.
