German automotive brand, Mercedes-Benz has moved a step further in the automobile world as the new 2022 AMG SL Roadster is introducing an adjustable flippy screen.
The new brand has a hardware feature in its model, a feature other brands can emulate and put to use. The center console has a touch screen that’s electronically adjustable and it’s taken out from the dashboard. This new feature was initiated all in an attempt to prevent the glare in the convertible model vehicle.
It has an 11.9 inches portrait screen in its new AMG SL Roadster. Its 12.3 inches screen just behind the steering wheel is quite visible behind a visor, where the “aviation-inspired” screen is seen. Glare is prevented because this new model’s screen is installed deeper into the dashboard.
It is believed that more companies will follow suit if it comes out good and works well too as this new model has gathered a lot of interest from auto enthusiasts.
Large touch screens, a recent common features in new cars, and the bigger these rectangular screens get, the lesser things you can do with the hardware to really differentiate from the competition. This might be the major reason behind new 2022 AMG SL Roadster, with Mercedes-Benz removing the screen out of the dashboard, and fixing it to the center console, thereby allowing it possess the electronically flip up and down features.
This looked interesting right?
The automobile is also clearly a flashy parlor trick that seems to say to who cares to listen
The new AMG SL Roadster also has a digital instrument cluster that’s a bit different from the rest. The 12.3-inch screen behind the steering wheel is tucked away in a “visor” that Mercedes-Benz says is “aviation-inspired.”
Obviously the screen is so embedded even deeper into the dashboard than normal in a bid to help it’s users fight glare.
The rush to bigger screen features in cars has put a big pressure on software, reason automakers from Polestar to Ford are turning to tech giants like Google for help. But similar to the current state of the Smartphone market, the hardware market has really converged.
Having being availed of Samsung’s famous folding phones, this articulating screen feels more like an idea thrown at a wall than something that will actually become desirable.
