It looks like Apple has concluded its week of Mac announcements, and it had a lot to say. Apple unveiled several updated accessories in addition to upgrading a number of its Mac machines with a more potent M4 CPU.
After many days of line-up updates, Apple’s “week” of Mac announcements seems to have come to an end:
Apple made three major announcements on Monday: the introduction of Apple Intelligence on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac; an improved keyboard, mouse, and trackpad with USB-C connectors; and a redesigned iMac with an M4 CPU and new colour options. It looks like Apple has concluded its week of Mac announcements, and it had a lot to say. Apple unveiled several updated accessories in addition to upgrading a number of its Mac machines with a more potent M4 CPU.
Apple unveiled the M4 Pro CPU and a revamped Mac Mini on Tuesday. This is the first revamp of the Mac Mini in more than ten years.
Apple upgrade the MacBook Pro with M4 CPUs and raised the MacBook Air’s basic RAM to 16GB on Wednesday.
This time, Apple chose to announce the news via press releases and promotional videos every morning rather than hosting a traditional product launch. All the news and some of our lesser discoveries are available in the stream below.
The features and hence here is a brief summary of all the news if you would want to catch up.
The upgraded M4 chip in the new iMac can support up to 10 cores of CPU and GPU. Along with a base 16GB of RAM, it has a 24-inch display with an optional “nano-texture glass” to help reduce glare.
Starting at $1,299, the entry-level iMac features two Thunderbolt 4 connections. A more costly variant with four Thunderbolt 4 ports costs $1,499 as well. Seven colours are available for the new iMac: silver, pink, purple, orange, yellow, and green.
Apple is also making significant improvements to the MacBook Pro, introducing three new models with the company’s top-performing M4 Max CPU, an M4 Pro, and a basic M4 chip. The MacBook Pro has the same nano-texture display option as the iMac and is available in 14- and 16-inch sizes. Additionally, the entry-level model comes with 16GB of RAM by default this time.
While the 16-inch model starts at $2,499, the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro costs $1,599. The laptops come in silver and space black finishes.
The new Mac Mini, which is only five inches long and wide, has an M4 CPU and 16GB of RAM in a more compact packaging. The Mac Mini has several connectors despite its small size, including three Thunderbolt USB-C ports on the rear, ethernet, HDMI, and two USB-C ports and an audio jack on the front.
With a regular M4 processor, the Mac Mini costs $599, but Apple raises the price to $1,399 with the more potent M4 Pro.
Apple is raising the base amount of RAM that comes with the M2 and M3-equipped versions of the notebooks from 8GB to 16GB, perhaps to accommodate the addition of Apple Intelligence, even if the MacBook Air didn’t receive a complete update this time around.
Upgrading the MacBook Air’s RAM to 16GB used to cost an additional $200. However, the additional RAM will still be included in the initial pricing of both devices.
All of Apple’s Mac peripherals, including the Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse, now support USB-C. Even while this is fantastic, Apple hasn’t moved the Magic Mouse’s charging port from its current placement on the underside of the gadget.
They start at $79 for the new Magic Mouse, $99 for the Magic Keyboard, and $129 for the Magic Trackpad.
At every event, Apple emphasized the implementation of Apple Intelligence. Apple intends to add more capabilities, such as an integration with ChatGPT, in December, but for now, the launch offers AI-powered writing tools and a new Siri for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Once your device has been upgraded, you can register, but access to the features is still subject to a waiting period.
