New features like multitasking gestures, optimizations for large-screened devices, first-party app enhancements and a PC-like taskbar for phones, and new watch faces and customizations for Galaxy smartwatches will soon be available for older generations of Samsung foldable phones and smartwatches in a new upgrade decision by the electronics company.
Android 12L based Samsung One UI 4.1.1 first appeared on devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 but it appears Samsung will today begin the UI 4.1.1 update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices, and it is expected to globally reach all users within the next few days. Samsung has also at some point has also done the One UI 4.1.1 update on the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy Z Fold.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Users will soon be able to do more with their Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 without even having to open it.
Older folding handsets users will now have the leverage to enjoy new features, one of them is the Taskbar that allows them the opportunity to seamlessly switch between applications and drag-and-drop apps to create a split view. Also available for multitasking is a new two-finger gesture that allows users instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split your screen in half for improved productivity.
PC-like interactions such as the Taskbar could boost productivity on Galaxy handsets with larger screens.
The ability to adjust settings, make calls, dial back missed calls and reply to texts (using voice-to-text) from the cover screen, as well as take selfies with the main camera using Rear Cam Selfie are some of the additional features the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will have.
The One UI Watch 4.5 which first had a full release on the Galaxy Watch 5, will now be available on the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, implying that six new interactive watch faces and additional customizations, as well as a new QWERTY keyboard will e the new additions. The smartphone company though hasn’t provided a release date for the rollout of Watch 4.5
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be eligible for a separate software update around the end of September, with the refresh having to deliver “selected features” from One UI Watch 4.5, like the two new watch faces, snore analysis, and support for blood pressure and ECG measuring in the Samsung Health Monitor app.
