Netflix Is Offering Free Access To Some Original Content, Here’s How To Use The Limited Offer

Netflix is now offering to allow some non-paying subscribers to stream some of its original and licensed content for a limited time for free. They told Gadgets360 that this is not a permanent thing although some had advocated for this. Even at that, there’s a catch to what the streaming giant is offering which is that Android and web users will be able to access some of these content after a 30 seconds skippable advert.

The idea according to them is to help get new subscribers because you see after Netflix had a blowout first quarter with a record 15.8 million subscribers and then a projected 7.2 million subscribers in the second quarter even though the number came in higher at 10.1 million. All of these good numbers are largely due to lockdown which saw people stream more than ever in addition to a record release of new content. But you see, competitors are catching up and the one everyone is watching is the latest to join the race, Disney Plus. The Disney owned streaming service which started less than a year ago now has 50 million subscribers.

Some of the shows coming to the free cadre are Strangers Things, Bird Box, Grace and Frankie, Murder Mystery, Two Popes, and more. That said, there is another catch which is that only movies can be watched in full while for TV shows, only the first episode can be viewed just like what YouTube is doing with YouTube Premium.

Right now, iOS devices and web browsers of your smart TV won’t be able to stream any of the free titles but you can do this from your Windows and Mac PCs as any browser on your Android device.

Click here to start streaming for free on Netflix without having to register or sign in for that matter. This is really a marketing move on the part of Netflix but whether it will bring about another big jump in the number of subscribers in the remaining quarters is yet to be seen.

Netflix now has about 193 million subscribers in the world and is projected to have at least 236 million by 2025.
