Self-acclaimed Technoking and Dogefather has taken to Twitter to ask his followers if they’d want his Electric Vehicle company Tesla to start accepting Dogecoin as a means of payment. Tesla already accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment for its electric vehicles and this came after the company invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin.
The tweet was made in form of a poll and requested that people vote YES or NO if they wanted Tesla to start accepting Dogecoin. The tweet which came alongside a pop read “Do you want Tesla to accept Doge?” The tweet had 3,922,516 votes and 78 percent of voters went with YES.
Tesla is the first company to accept cryptocurrency as a means of payment and is one of the pioneer companies that encouraged other global businesses to start accepting cryptocurrency and integrating it with its operations. Judging from the tweet and the number of people that voted YES, there is a huge possibility that Tesla might begin accepting Dogecoin.
Dogecoin was created in 2013 by Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer as a joke and is based on the Shiba Inu Dog Meme. Dogecoin is currently the fourth largest cryptocurrency with a market capitalization of over $85 billion.
Elon Musk’s involvement in Dogecoin is one of the major reasons Dogecoin has gotten to the point it is now. Elon Musk also recently announced that his aerospace company will be launching a Dogecoin funded space mission called “DOGE-1 Mission to the Moon”. With this project, Elon Musk vows to take Dogecoin to the moon and lay the foundation of interplanetary commerce. He also tweeted about this development and his tweet read “SpaceX is going to put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon”.
Users showed their excitement about Tesla accepting Dogecoin as a means of payment for Tesla cars by commenting below Musk’s post. A few others were not moved by the ideas and didn’t hesitate to show this.
