Elon Musk And Mark Zuckerberg Disagree On The Effects Of AI On Us

The two tech entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg hold conflicting views on Artificial Intelligence (AI) which has led to a social media clash.

While Mr. Zuckerberg, the Facebook boss believes that Artificial Intelligence will produce more benefits than its downsides, his opponent, Mr. Musk, has a contrary opinion; for him, AI could ultimately destroy humanity

This came after a viewer of the Facebook Live broadcast on Sunday asked Mr. Zuckerberg on matters that bother on AI and its effect on the world using Elon Musk’s opinion as a basis for a response.

The Facebook boss responded that with AI, he is really optimistic. I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios…I just don’t understand it. It’s really negative and in some ways, I actually think it is pretty irresponsible, he said further

Although, he didn’t Mention Mr. Musk by name, it can be deduced from his response that he refereed to his statement during his recent interview. In response to this, Elon Musk tweeted:

I’ve talked to Mark about this: His understanding of the subject is limited.

The warnings about the drastic effect of Artificial Intelligence has been underway for quite sometime. Musk started the campaign on the dangers of AI three years ago, after the SpaceX founder called it humanity’s biggest existential threat during a talk at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Other notable individuals like Bill Gates, Prof Stephen and other researchers have expressed their concern on the threat that AI poses to humanity. They fear that the existence of AI could potentially lead to human extinction.

Yet, Mark Zuckerberg strongly hold the view that AI is going to make our lives better.

Little wonder his tech company, Facebook has a research team on AI with seasoned academic researchers. This team has aided Facebook with series of valuable academic papers published yearly.
