Tech billionaires and cryptocurrency enthusiasts Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey have agreed to speak about Bitcoin at an event coming up next month. The decision was reached after series of tweets were exchanged between the tech billionaires.
Twitter’s CEO – Jack Dorsey made a tweet promoting an event called “The B Word”. The event is geared towards promoting Bitcoin adoption; encouraging businesses, companies, financial institutions, institutional investors, and even individuals to adopt Bitcoin in their business operations and daily activities.
Out of curiosity, Elon Musk responded to the tweet with “Bicurious?”, most likely referring to the “B” word in Jack’s tweet. Jack Dorsey responded to Musk’s tweet requesting that they discuss Bitcoin at the event. “Bizarre! Let’s you and I have a conversation at the event. You can share all your curiosities…”, Jack said.
Elon Musk agreed to speak about Bitcoin and the associated “mysteries” surrounding it at the event. “For the Bitcurious? Very well then, let’s do it”, he said.
According to information provided on the “B word” website – an initiative by the Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI), the event is “offering a live experience and a library of content to the investor community, enabling a more informed discussion about the role Bitcoin can serve for institutions about the globe”. The event is scheduled for the 21st of next month.
An initiative of the Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI), the “B word” is an initiative created to spread awareness about the numerous benefits that Bitcoin has to offer, demystify the various notions about Bitcoin, and providing reasons why Bitcoin is the future of currency.
During the friendly tweet exchanges between Jack and Tesla’s boss Elon Musk, Peter Schiff who is a strong Bitcoin (and cryptocurrency) skeptic was mentioned. Jack asked if Peter Schiff should also be a part of their conversation about Bitcoin. Peter Schiff is a strong critic of Bitcoin and believes that gold is the best option for investment. He shares, more or less, the same sentiments with former U.S. President Donald Trump, who calls Bitcoin a scam and a currency based on thin air. Richard Bernstein – the CEO of Richard Bernstein Advisors also called Bitcoin a bubble and that investors should be gearing towards oil.
The tweets between the two billionaires have garnered quite a plethora of reactions from other Twitter users, and the upcoming event promises to be an interesting one.
Bitcoin has seen some wild volatility since the past weeks, alternating between $30,000 and $40,000, and briefly falling below $30,000 at some point.
Elon Musk-owned electric vehicle company Tesla, also stopped accepting the currency for its products out of environmental sustainability concerns, although Elon Musk promised that the company would continue to accept the currency as a means of payment as soon as the process of mining Bitcoin is not detrimental to the environment.
Bitcoin has also recorded quite some gains. Central American country El Salvador adopted it as a legal tender.
Elon Musk and Jack Dorsey continue to be strong Bitcoin advocates irrespective of the huge criticism that the currency has to deal with every single day. In an interview at the Bitcoin 2021 conference, Jack said that he wouldn’t mind leaving his companies to work on Bitcoin.
