Microsoft accounts can now go fully passwordless

Microsoft is currently rolling out passkey functions to all her customer accounts. Microsoft account owners may now produce passkeys for Windows, Android, and iOS after enabling them in Windows 11 last year. This eliminates the need to constantly enter a password, making it simple to log into a Microsoft account.

By using this link, you can generate passkeys for your Microsoft account. To use a device to sign in using a passkey, you can select your face, fingerprint, PIN, or security key.

According to Vasu Jakkal, corporate vice president of Microsoft security, compliance, and identity, “You can use a passkey to sign in to Microsoft apps and websites, including Microsoft 365 and Copilot on desktop and mobile browsers.” “In coming weeks, support for using your passkey to log into mobile versions of Microsoft applications will be added.”

A significant advancement in Microsoft’s drive toward a passwordless future is represented in passkeys. With Windows 10, Microsoft first launched Windows Hello authentication in 2015. This feature lets you log in to a computer using your fingerprint, face, or PIN. After that, in April 2018, Microsoft began to support FIDO security keys. In 2021, they introduced a fully passwordless option for Microsoft accounts.

Since Apple, Google, Microsoft, and other companies embraced passkeys, they have become the industry standard. Passkeys have been used by over 400 million Google accounts to date, indicating that it’s an effective replacement for always needing a password to log in.
