Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari, has eventually released executive order backed by the federal republic of Nigeria to censure violators of his administration’s social security initiative. Buhari’s order reportedly excommunicates erring subscribers from connecting to its identity module to process outgoing calls dependable on its network career broadband.

Recall, that Buhari’s social security initiative mandated Nigerians to participate and promote national safety. The federal government outlined simplified policies that require Nigerians to link their National Identity Number (NIN) with their personal Sim cards data. Buhari’s administration is committed to promoting transparency within the Nigerian population coexisting as sane civilians rather than sharpening other complex socio-economic problems to yield productive outcomes.

Several Nigerians have been affected by Buhari’s terminal policy punishable by violators of the presidential NIN-SIM linkage campaign. Still, Buhari was faulted for not having announced he enforced the termination policy for erring NIN-SIM subscribers’ on national TV. That’s the least commitment of civic responsibility expected of a grand commander of a federal Republic state.

Buhari’s directive was broadcasted via text on Twitter — Buhari’s nonchalance depicts he is too busy to manage his personal social media, likewise Nigeria. Bashir Ahmed has reportedly managed Buhari’s social media handles — even at the time Buhari got suspended from the bird app community — Ahmed experienced the whole drama.

Ahmed’s tweet via Buhari’s Twitter page: “The Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) says its members will comply with the FG’s directive barring outgoing calls of subscribers who are yet to link their NIN with their SIMs. The NIN-SIM linkage is still ongoing, link yours, TODAY.”

Nonetheless, the Association of Licensed Telecommunication Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) was the first audience to receive Buhari’s directive to excommunicate violators’ access to the outgoing call. In a nutshell, Buhari’s directives specifically null outgoing calls which depict there is a schemed critical consequence awaiting subscribers for non-compliance of the NIN-SIM campaign.

The ALTON Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, revealed the federal government directive sought to minimize the enormous number of erring subscribers of NIN-SIM linkage encouraging excommunicated subscribers to enrol for the personal data update before the federal government consent to enforce a severe repercussion for violators.

It is a no-brainer, Buhari’s administration attempting to compile the Nigerian population under a uniform database synced with personal information. This point of view clarifies Buhari’s motive for initializing his social security campaign.

After Buhari’s directive got to the ALTON’s office, Adebayo then forward the executive order to several telecom operators licensed by ALTON to operate in Nigeria. Both new and existing subscribers yet to pair their government-issued identification tracking number with their personal sim card information reportedly got excommunicated from their service provider. It is worth noting that telecom operators flipped the switch per Buhari’s order announced by his aid.

Telecom operators are bound to adhere to Buhari’s demands, even at the expense of suffocating their customer’s comfort. The Nigerian regulatory agencies such as the NCC and ALTON are responsive to filing a lawsuit or more against any telecom operator that neglects the federal government directive to null subscribers who failed to pair the NIN-SIM.

The NCC also revealed that excommunicated subscribers would have encountered this issue earlier. Due to several appeals, the federal government had to consider prolonging its termination policy for violators. In sum, the federal government’s latest directive depicts the next termination policy to be more severe than solely restricting outgoing calls.
