LinkedIn wants you to add your salary information to the data they already have about you. Just last month, the professional social media networks added a tool that will make it easier for you to find a new job without your current employers knowing about it. Top recruiters will now be able to find prospective clients who may be working for rival firms who want to leave.

This new feature that allows you to add your salary will be used by the over 450 million users to compare how much potential employers pay in addition to what cities pay better. Let me add quickly that this information will only be available to you only if you add your salary. You will be asked to provide information like your annual salary including other benefits like bonuses and stock compensation.

As is stands, not many people in other firms may want to discuss their compensation packages with you but with this, it’s possible for you to know this without necessarily asking your friends on other cities.

The new tool will be available from today to users in the US, UK and Canada and will gradually spread to other regions.
